‘Rambo: New Blood’ TV Series Coming To Fox

This new series from Fox explores the father-son relationship of John Rambo in Rambo: New Blood. Written by Die Hard and The Fugitive writer, Jeb Stuart.

The Rambo franchise will live on in the small screen thanks to a development deal from Fox for a new series titled, Rambo: New Blood. Sylvester Stallone will be executive producing the series, with Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive) writing. Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films and Entertainment One will produce the new show.

The series will explore the relationship between Rambo and his son, the new blood. Rambo’s son is J.R., an ex-Navy SEAL, who has not been featured in any of the four Rambo films. Stallone is expected to reprise his role as John Rambo, despite reports to the contrary in 2013 when the series was initially being produced.

Rambo has four feature films to date, First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II, Rambo III, Rambo, and a 1986 animated series Rambo: The Force of Freedom. Stallone is a franchise machine with his latest installment in the Rocky franchise, Creed, earning $42.6 million domestic in its opening weekend and a critic score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. The TV adaptation of The Expendables is also in the works at Fox, with NCIS: Los Angeles creator Shane Brennan as show runner.
