The Replacements take the stage and put their own spin on the classic Jackson 5 song “I Want You Back”

The Replacements is a band formed back in the late 70’s and has met several success over the years. After a long break, the bandmates have now joined forces again. The group took the stage on Friday, September 19, in New York, 23 years since they last appeared in the town. The performance was scheduled as part of their comeback tour and they even treated the audience with their own live rendition of Jackson 5’s well-known “I Want You Back”.

The tour begun in late summer of ’13 and is still going strong. Original line-up’s rockers, Paul Westerberg and bassist Tommy Stinson, were found teaming up with guitarist Dave Minehan and drummer Josh Freese for the band’s new era. Among their own hits, they also managed to perform a few covers and Jackson 5’s classic was one of them. Not only did they bring sweet memories to mind with the song choice, but they also did a wonderful job with their very own version of the track.

Since they’re now back together, they don’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Their plans include another show in Tempe, Arizona on September 27. Later on, they are scheduled to take over Austin City Limits Festival on October 5 and 12, in Texas.
