Mortal Kombat’s original hidden character is set to return for another round.
In the latest trailer for the upcoming tenth installment of the ever-popular and ultra-violent fighting game series, Mortal Kombat X, it is revealed that fan favorite Reptile will return as a playable character. He comes sporting a new look that emphasizes his savage nature while paying homage to his past as a palette-swapped ninja clone of series regulars Scorpion and Sub-Zero.
The trailer features a fair bit of gameplay footage, revealing that many of Reptile’s iconic special attacks are returning with him, such as his Acid Spit and Force Ball, as well as some new moves like using his long, chameleon-like tongue to attack and throw opponents. Of course, it wouldn’t beMortal Kombat without Fatalities, and we get a preview of one of Reptile’s new ones as well here.
Reptile appeared as a secret opponent character in the first Mortal Kombat game in 1992 and has since appeared in nearly every following game in the series.
Mortal Kombat X is due to be released on April 14 for Playstation 4, X-Box One, and Microsoft Windows, and is expected to also be ported to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
