The Wanted finished off their Word Of Mouth tour last month, the last before their hiatus began. The band announced back in January that they’d be taking a break to pursue individual endeavors.

Tom Parker has already begun his solo takeover, teaming up with fellow English musician Richard Rawson (formerly known as Fazer) for the single “Fireflies.”

The track has an inspirational edge to it. Rawson raps about his journey through music, and Parker joins in on the hook, singing that fireflies remind him that “it’s not over;” they’re much-needed light in the dark.

I personally love tracks like these. It’s catchy, but carries a powerful message at the same time. If you find yourself thinking that you may want to give up, just look to the source of light in your life, whatever that may be.

This is a great collaboration, and as a long-time fan of The Wanted, I think Parker’s in his element. His voice shines in it for sure.

The music video for “Fireflies” debuted last Friday (June 13). It’s simplistic in its delivery, with a lot of interplaying bright lights and shadows, in keeping with the song’s theme.

The single is now available for pre-order on iTunes, with a release date set for July 27.
