It’s the news that all Bon Jovi fans have been holding out for all year… that guitarist Richie Sambora would be returning to the New Jersey rock band after spending the better part of 2013 estranged from the band.
The drama started back in April during the band’s Because We Can world tour when hours before they were due to take to the stage in Calgary Canada, Sambora pulled out suddenly. It was later announced that he had withdrawn from the current leg of the tour, “due to personal reasons”.
There was then talk, back in July that he would be rejoining his bandmates at their scheduled British Summer Time gig in London’s Hyde Park. However, he was a no-show at that event.
While it has not been confirmed what these “personal reasons” are, speculation has been rife of either a feud with band front man, Jon Bon Jovi, a disagreement over money or a relapse of his substance abuse.
As we come to the end of 2013 it appears that a reunion with the band may occur. Speaking to TMZ while at LAX airport over the weekend, Sambora revealed that his break from the band was “not forever”, but hinted that he would not be rejoining for this tour as it’s basically over. He did say that he would be playing some dates solo in Australia in January.
When asked about his relationship with Jon, he said that “everything’s cool” and that he “texted him yesterday”.
The Because We Can tour hits Japan on December 3 followed by a series of concerts in Australia from December 7.
