In the aftermath of the tragic Lafayette shooting, former Texas Governor, Rick Perry has stated in an interview with CNN, that it “makes perfect sense” to allow guns in current gun-free zones, like movie theaters.
Last Thursday, John Russell Houser shot eleven people, killing two and then committing suicide in a movie theater, with a gun he legally purchased. Perry believes due to the second amendment, that if somebody legally owns a gun that they should be allowed to take this gun everywhere, to protect themselves and their family.
Perry has recently launched his 2016 Republican Presidential Campaign, and although both he and President Obama believe that the current gun laws need altering, Perry is of the opinion that the answer to this epidemic is more guns, everywhere. While President Obama has continued to push for stricter gun laws.
It is yet to be seen as to whether this controversial stance will strengthen or weaken his campaign.
