When asked about his stance on gays during a conference in California last week, Texas Governor Rick Perry came under fire for reportedly comparing the LGBT mindset to being an alcoholic.

Perry had remarked that if he had the “genetic coding” to be addicted to alcohol, he could still choose not to drink. This, of course, lead to widespread fury across the internet which, of course, lead to some backtracking on Perry’s part June 20.

The notorious governor admitted that even he thought of his choice of words as a mistake, saying that he “stepped in it” for stating what he did at the time.

Still, Perry is fully on-board with Texas’ pretty ridiculous GOP platform rearing to be officially presented in the near future. As previously reported by PopWrapped, those funny guys and gals up in the league of Texan conservatives still believe that being gay is a genetic disorder instead of an accepted normalcy. Furthermore, they think that “gay conversion therapy” is the answer.

I’m all for talking out our differences, but this one-sided dance isn’t a good way to do it, Texas!

What do you think about Perry’s admittance? Should he have owned up to his mistake or have kept his lips zipped considering his stance towards gay rights?
