Looks like Robbie Amell has partnered up with Netflix to star in a time traveling adventure film called Arq!
Robbie Amell is well known to comic book fans for his role on The Flash as the original Firestorm. Those less nerdy than I will know Amell as the handsome jock Wesley who gives dating advice to his childhood friend in The DUFF. Joining Amell on the show is Rachael Taylor who plays Trish Walker on Jessica Jones. Fans will also recognize Taylor as one half of the hacker duo that stole the show in Transformers. Amell and Taylor have teamed up with Netflix for a science fiction thriller titled Arq.
Lost City and XYZ Films are set to produce the film. XYZ Films is renowned for producing the popular martial arts action films The Raid and The Raid 2. Arq will be written and directed by Tony Elliot, who served as a writer and story editor on BBC's Orphan Black. Sounds like Arq is shaping up to have some serious sci-fi and geek cred.
The Hollywood Reporter reported on Arq's plot summary:
Arq is a post-apocalyptic thriller set in the near future when the oil supply has run dry. Trapped in a house and surrounded by a gang of mysterious masked intruders, an engineer (Amell) must protect a technology that could deliver unlimited energy and end the wars that have consumed the world. The only problem is that the technology has created a time loop that condemns him and his friends all to relive the same day over and over.
Action sequences and a time paradox, sounds great to me! The film will begin shooting in Toronto during the month of February. In the meantime, you can find Robbie Amell in the X-Files reboot and making an appearance on the current season of The Flash. Rachael Taylor will be starring in Gold alongside Matthew McConaughey and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Are you looking forward to seeing Arq make its debut?
