Relativity Media just released the first images from the upcoming release The Family (previously titled Malavita). The action comedy film directed by Luc Besson(Taken, The Big Blue, Nikita) stars Robert DeNiro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Tommy Lee Jones, and Glee‘s Diana Agron.
The film, based on the novel Malavita by Tonino Benacquista, follows the mafia boss Fred Manzoni (Robert DeNiro) and his family–wife Maggie (Michelle Pfeiffer), and children Belle (Dianna Agron) and Warren (John D’Leo) under the witness protection program that threatens to change their lives. Despite the best efforts of CIA agent Stansfield (Tommy Lee Jones), the family can’t help but to revert to their old habits and blow their cover by handling their problems, the “family” way, enabling their former mafia cronies to track them down.
It is interesting to note that this is not the first foray of Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer in mafia-themed films (GoodFellas for DeNiro and Married to the Mob for Pfeiffer) so we can expect to have both actors deliver a killing at the box-office.
The Family is scheduled to be released on September 20, 2013.
