In 2011, Sting celebrated his 60th birthday with a concert and a special guest star who stole the show.

Who was the special star? Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr. Yes, Tony Stark can sing and he can sing well. I was a bit skeptical when I came across the clip, but when that man opened up and sang, holy cow, I was shocked. He actually sounds really good singing live and front and center on the song “Driven to Tears.”

Fans of the superstar, whose work includes Sherlock Holmes, Soapdish, and U.S. Marshals, know that this isn’t the first outing Downey has had with singing. He appeared on Ally McBeal for twenty-five episodes and, in one of the episodes, he appears on stage and sings another Sting song, “Every Breath You Take.” A quick Spotify or YouTube search yields another gem: an album titled The Futurist. The album is from 2004 and is quite good, as well.

The multifaceted star sure is full of surprises, isn’t he? You can watch the full song below and fall in love with him even more. Seriously. What’s not to love with this man? Can we start a petition to get him to appear in a musical?
