Whilst promoting his new movie The Judge, Robert Downey Jr recently revealed that are no plans for an Iron Man 4. Certainly not with him playing the genius, billionaire playboy philanthropist, anyway.
He revealed to Variety that “There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.”
It’s not much of a surprise, as he has mentioned previously that he has no plans for any more stand alone films and wants to focus on the ensemble pieces of The Avengers instead.
Kevin Feige, Marvel President, has suggested a way to get around this, however. He believes that Iron Man could be like James Bond, with different actors taking on the character. Still, I’m not sure how audiences would react to that. RDJ has cornered the market on bearded billionaires.
But with Robert Downey Jr still continuing to play Iron Man in the Avenger’s sequels, it is unlikely another actor will get to put on the suit for a very long time.
