Robert Irwin Helps Jimmy Fallon Tackle His Fear Of Animals

Robert Irwin, son of late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to help tackle Fallon’s fear of animals.

The phrase “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” couldn’t be any more true when it comes to Robert Irwin, son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. At only 13 years old, he is already following in his father’s footsteps, sharing the same passion and enthusiasm for wildlife that his father had exemplified. “I’ve actually grown up at the Australia Zoo,” Robert told Jimmy Fallon. “So I think that I’m the luckiest kid on planet Earth.” In his own words, “it’s in my blood.”

Irwin, who will be co-hosting the annual Steve Irwin Gala in LA on May 13 with his mom and sister to raise money for Wildlife Warriors, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, February 16, where he discussed none other than his love for animals. He was also tasked with overcoming another sticky situation — Jimmy Fallon’s fear of animals, and Robert Irwin had an abundance of animals to help.

First up was Beetlejuice, an African dwarf crocodile who will grow to be, on average, five feet long, a stark contrast to the massive 16-foot long saltwater crocodiles that call Australia home, as Robert Irwin noted. Mickey the screaming armadillo, who has an uncanny resemblance to Donald Trump’s toupee was up next, followed by Lady the boa constrictor, who Fallon wasn’t a fan of.

To end things on a happier note, Robert Irwin traded in Lady for something “cute and fluffy,” showing Jimmy Fallon not one but two sloths, the slowest moving mammals on the planet, although Fallon questioned if they’re slower than him at the gym. Valentino, an 8-pound baby sloth native to South America who loves his veggies was first. While Valentino couldn’t be held, Serenity, the 20-pound sloth that Jimmy was presented with, didn’t want to let him go, and Robert dubbed Fallon a sloth whisperer. Watch the full segment below.
