Robin Lord Taylor, who stars as the Penguin on FOX’s hit series Gotham
has recently received praise from another iconic actor who has taken on the role, and his response?
"I still can't get over it!"
Recently Danny DeVito, who famously played Penguin as the foil to Michael Keaton’s Batman in 1992’s Batman Returns recently told reporters he was a fan of Lord Taylor’s portrayal of a young Penguin
, saying “I think he's a very good young Penguin. He's a terrific actor!", praise that has RLT understandably excited.
Talking to Too Fab, Lord Taylor said
, “It doesn't get any better than that. It just feels incredible," adding that "I've said it before, but I've watched Batman Returns a billion times, it's one of those films where I can continually watch it over and over again because of his performance.”
Lord Taylor also mentioned a connection he has to DeVito through his on-sceen mother and DeVito’s Taxi co-star, Carol Kane, a connection he says he’d like to leverage into meeting the previous Penguin.
"Carol Kane, who plays my mum, is really good friends with Danny and Rhea [Perlman, DeVito’s wife], so she'll come to set and go 'Guess who I had dinner with last night? Your predecessor!’"
"Could you call me next time?” Lord Taylor joked. “I just want to get drunk with the guy, two Penguins on the town!"
has recently been picked up for a second season. It airs Monday nights at 8 on FOX.
