Margie Patton Staff Writer@MargiePatton Tennis marvel Roger Federer has done it again, defeating Tomas Berdych 3-6, 6-4, and 6-3 to capture his sixth ATP Dubai Tennis Championship title. Federer came in to the match strong, maintaining the momentum of a win over Novak Djokovic in the semi-final on Friday. It had been his first defeat of Djokovic in 18 months. Sky Sports reports that the Dubai victory carried Federer out of a slight slump, with the superstar having won only one other ATP title in the past 18 months. Considering this is his 78th ATP title overall, though, Federer’s career continues to be more than impressive. At 32, Federer holds a world-record seventeen Grand Slam titles and is now third in the list of all-time ATP title winners, trailing only Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors. Federer’s current world ranking is No. 8, but the Dubai win could be the boost of confidence he needs to tackle another major. Federer stated, “It's the mental belief that you're gonna win instead of losing - I think that's what I got back right now.” Is Federer on his way to becoming the most celebrated tennis player in history? Is he your favorite tennis star, or is there another king or queen of the courts for you? Let us know in the comments!
