Even though all of Marvel’s Netflix shows take place within a shared universe, there will be one person who won’t be showing up in the Punisher series.
Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple will not be making an appearance in The Punisher, in spite of her appearance in Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
While it’s definitely a step in a different direction, apparently they did try to get Dawson to appear, but scheduling conflicts stood in the way.
“At the end of the day, it’s really hard to get all of those casts together,” said Dawson in an interview with Collider. “For The Defenders, it was difficult to get everybody together. People are busy! There are so many times where I really want it to happen. I really wanted to do a cameo on The Punisher, but it doesn’t always work that way.”
Dawson also went on to say that while she was at first disappointed in her non-super powered role within a superhero universe, she very quickly embraced the role and really enjoys the fans’ enthusiasm for the character.
“it’s really fun seeing people go, ‘Claire Temple is my favorite character ‘cause she’s a real person and she’s got real skills, and if it wasn’t for her, they’d all have been dead, a long time ago.’”
The Punisher wrapped filming in April and is set to be released sometime in 2017. Dawson, meanwhile, is currently starring in Unforgettable, which hit theaters April 25th.
