It looks like the Doctor has some interesting new companions! The Prince of Wales and his wife, Camilla, visited the BBC set of Doctor Who recently as part of the show’s 50th anniversary celebration, taking a tour with Matt Smith, Jenna-Louise Coleman, and showrunner Steven Moffat.
“Meeting The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall today was such an honour,” said Coleman. “The Prince was particularly interested in the mechanics of how the TARDIS works and the storyline for the upcoming 50th anniversary special, but I didn’t give too many secrets away.
Prince Charles and Camilla were treated to a conversation with some classic Who baddies, including both Cybermen and Daleks (“OBEY. OUR. COMMANDS. IMMEDIATELY.”), and Charles even gave his best Dalek impression. Making their way into the TARDIS, Smith taught Camilla how to properly fly his ship, and she activated its famous sounds.
"It was great to welcome The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall to set today," Smith said. "Showing them how to fly the TARDIS was a real treat and something I never thought I would be doing when I first took on the role. The Prince of Wales said he remembers watching the show when he was 15 and seemed very knowledgeable on the Who history, so it’s nice to think they are watching.”
Though Smith has confirmed that he will be wrapping up his days as the Doctor, he will appear in the 50th Anniversary Special, which will air on November 23rd, 2013, and sees the return of former Doctor and companion David Tennant and Billie Piper. It has also been reported that Smith will appear one final time in the 2013 Christmas Special.
