@ShaneAvery

Rush Week has officially come to an end, and we now have the Top 5 guys, and Top 5 girls, PLUS the 3 wild card spots making up the official Top 13 for season 13!!

Lots of numbers right?
It wasn’t easy getting there though. After a long, trying, dramatic filled Hollywood Week, the contestants made their way into Rush Week where only the best would survive. So who made it through the first batch of America votes?
After a quick recap of last nights guys, it was right down to business!
The first person to make it into the Top 13 was:
Malaya Watson!!
The very excited Malaya was met with a huge hug from Ryan Seacrest, who actually lifted her right off the ground! She proceeded to celebrate with the fans before taking her seat. Following Malaya was…..
Ben Briley!!
Ryan kept them coming though, and there was no messing around:
Emily Piriz!!
I must admit that I’m a bit surprised by Emily’s acceptance into the Top 13. I found her vocal this week to be a tad shaky, but she did impress during Hollywood week. So, we’ll see how she does moving forward. Ready for another?
Alex Preston!
The quirky guitarist was ALSO joined by…..
Jessica Meuse!!
The country/rocker was a long shot for me, but I must admit to being very happy that she made it through.
Country boy Dexter Roberts was the next to be given a seat, as was Caleb Johnson, who actually scooped Ryan right up off the ground in a huge hug!!
Majesty Rose was the next girl to made the Top 13 and now there was only ONE spot left for a guy and a girl.
Those final spots were:
MK Nobilette and Sam Woolf!!
Okay, personal opinion time:
I am SO happy about MK and Sam. They’ve been two of my favorites ever since they auditioned!!!
We’re now moving toward the Wild Card format. The way this worked was that the judges picked 5 of the remaining 10 to sing ONE LAST TIME and then they would pick 3 of those 5 to enter the Top 13.
The first to be chosen was CJ Harris, who sang his Hollywood solo. Harry immediately called CJ (and the band) out on some problems but Jennifer said his voice still carried it. CJ now had to wait.
The next judges’ pick was Jena Irene who attempted to prove to the everyone that she belonged in the competition. She performed her original track once again, and I am continued to be blown away by her. Keith picked up on her strength and how she didn’t let the audience cheers distract her from the song.
Spencer Lloyd was then given his second chance, and I must admit that I was quite surprised the judges would given him another shot. His performance last night was met with some harsh critique. Would this performance redeem him in the judges eyes?
Next to sing for the wild card spot was Bria Anai!
And DAMN, Bria is out for blood for that wild card spot!! Bria performed “It’s A Mans, Mans, World” by the legendary James Brown and I was shocked to hear Harry call it “all over the place”. Sure, there were a few notes a little off, but it was really good in my opinion.
It was time for the LAST performance though, and that person was Kristen O’Connor!
She belted out “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry, and for me it fell flat, but Keith actually enjoyed it.
So who would be the 3 wild cards?
They were:
Jena Irene, Kristen O’Connor, and CJ Harris!!
I am very surprised by Kristen being kept, but this Top 13 is MAGIC.
So here is the full list:
Caleb Johnson
Sam Woolf
Jessica Meuse
Jena Irene
CJ Harris
MK Nobilette
Ben Briley
Dexter Roberts
Alex Preston
Kristen O’Connor
Malaya Watson
Emily Piriz
Majesty Rose
Next week, they take the stage for YOUR votes!!
Who’s your favorite?
