Ryan Gosling And Rachel McAdams Absolutely Hated Each Other During “The Notebook”

I remember when I first saw the trailer for The Notebook ten years ago. I watched, I yearned and I felt that lust, passion and awkward burning sensation that was not my movie theater nachos. It was the pure love that seared between Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. It was real and it would last forever!

Oscar-caliber performances, ladies. I’d say “and gentlemen” but let’s be honest with ourselves. There are only estrogen-laced veins reading this article. And now after all this time, we hear that they scrapped on set? Say it isn’t so?! Well, their director, Nick Cassavetes, took it upon himself to let the cat out of the bag a decade later and say what Ryan was really thinking during filming.

“Would you take her out of here and bring in another actress to read off camera with me?” I said, “What?” He says, “I can’t. I can’t do it with her. I’m just not getting anything from this.”

Even Rachel sort of said the same thing back in 2007 during an interview with The Times in the UK, “”We weren’t throwing Ming vases at each other, so it wasn’t loathing, but our relationship was not what you saw on the screen. I would say that we were both, well, professional.”

The two didn’t start dating when they met, which would seem pretty obvious from these quotes. How did the two Canadians eventually hook up then? The clouds parted and a rainbow led them to each other! Just kidding; actually, Ryan himself has dished about that over the years. He told The Observer, “”I don’t know what happened. Two years later I saw her in New York and we started getting the idea that maybe we were wrong about each other…”

So hot, right? It was so meant to be…and then not to be. They broke up a few times before finally separating permanently a couple years later. I bet the make ups were mind-blowing. I know exactly what’s going through your mind at this second and I’m with you. Real, fake, imaginary, I don’t care. That movie gave us unrealistic views on what romance should be like and we are all sticking with them.
