One of my favorite singing competitions, American Idol, is getting a makeover for the upcoming season; one I hope improves the rating. The show has seen a decline in viewership since shows like The Voice and X-Factor fought them for ratings (The Voice usually coming out on top I might add). Everyone from original judge Randy Jackson to long-time show producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick are being replaced for the next go-round of the singing series. Luckily, there will still be a familiar face with host Ryan Seacrest still on board.
Seacrest recently told Access Hollywood that one change he would like to see is the return of infamously villainous judge, Simon Cowell. "To have a chance to spar with him again, on live national television, would be heaven. I would love it," the host said.
Rumored new judges include Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Lopez; although Lopez has stated to E! News she is not returning to Idol, “I feel like it’s in the past for me.” Swedish Idol’s Per Blankens will be the show’s new producer.
Clarkson and Hudson are two of my three hopefuls for the new judging panel, my third choice being another alleged possibility, Adam Lambert. Who better to judge future Idols than three diverse and successful alumni of the show?!
Who would you choose?
