Sandra Bullock has once again shown the world how you can be a rich and famous movie star and still be down-to-earth, generous, and kind.
The actress recently made a surprise appearance at the graduation ceremony of Warren Easton High School in New Orleans. Bullock has had a close relationship with Warren Easton High ever since she adopted the charter school following Hurricane Katrina.
Bullock surreptitiously slipped on stage to surprise the students with a humorous and heart-felt speech filled with simple, straightforward words of wisdom. Her speech was based on the advice she gives her four-year-old son, whom she adopted from New Orleans. She encouraged the kids to dance every day because it “changes the way you walk” and eat something green every day. She also reminded them not to pick their nose in public!
Of course there were also more serious moments. Sandra also told the students “Raise the bar higher. I only remember the moments where I tried beyond what I thought I could do, and I do not remember the failures because I didn’t. Nothing is a failure, it’s just not supposed to work out that way, because something better is supposed to come along.”
Watch the video below for more of Sandra’s speech. There’s some solid advice not just for the students of Warren Easton High, but for all of us.
