Sara Ramirez has announced her departure from Grey’s Anatomy tonight, as the series’ 12th season ended.

Ramirez, who originated the role of Callie Torres on the ABC show, posted to her Twitter, confirming her exit. Callie was written out of the series in the closing moments, as she left for NYC with girlfriend Penny.

However, she does say “time off,” so she presumably could return.

Dear Shonda Rhimes, this now means that Callie must be brought back when (and at this point if) the series ends. I mean, Callie and Arizona for life right? Let’s ignore what happened this season.
