Did Fitz and Liv get married on this week’s Scandal? No, but a whole lot of other things happened in “Get Out of Jail, Free”, so let’s begin.

Mellie goes before the committee on the subject of impeaching Fitz, and they sandbag her. They ask her if she knew, and she says no, but they have a statement from his mistress from a previous season that said otherwise. Uh-oh!

Cyrus thinks the only way to fix this is to find a way for Liv to not have to testify, and the only way that can happen is if she has Executive Privilege like Fitz, which means a super-fast wedding! Liv is not on board with this idea.

Olivia’s team have to testify about the first mistress, and they answer the questions honestly and throw Harrison (RIP) under the bus.

Papa Pope is working on a prison escape plan with … guess who?  Elise. Right? But it turns out she actually is working to get him killed, and he winds up in the infirmary where they reach out to Jake as one of Pope’s only two visitors. He finds out Elise was there, and she explains the plan, but, when he goes to meet her the following day, she’s been murdered. Poor Jake. He thinks Liv is getting married and his wife is dead.

Fitz tries to propose to Liv a second time in a more romantic way, but she refuses again, saying that they aren’t ready — but he says it’s her who is not ready. She gets a call from her father who says, in exchange for his escape, he’ll make the entire hearing go away. Liv is tempted and goes to Mellie for help since she can sign Fitz’s name, but Mellie knows Papa Pope as someone else — someone very bad who brought about the end of her marriage and led to many deaths — and she refuses. Liv decides she’s going to have to marry Fitz, but, at the last minute, Mellie changes her mind and releases Papa Pope.

This recap is both late and a little brief, but this episode opened up a lot and held many OMG moments. What happens next?
