The Purge: AnarchyFor the next 12 hours all crime is legal, including murder. That's the basic premise for The Purge and it translates well into an extremely chaotic scare zone for this year's haunt event at Universal Studios. Darkness, fog, loud noises, and masked attackers dashing quickly through the crowd are in your face before you realize they were there. The Purge is the largest scare zone encompassing the entire of the New York street and there's definitely enough action to fill it. At special times throughout the night, captured people are auctioned off in front of the bus.
Bayou of BloodBayou of Blood is my favorite scare zone for this year. While it's not huge or exceptionally scary, the Voodoo Queen won me over. She asks guests about their darkest desires and offers to fulfill them, for a price. While I was there, guests were asking for everything from power, to love, to eliminating their student loans.
MASKerade: UnstitchedMASKerade: Unstitched is the first scare zone you encounter when entering Halloween Horror Nights. This scare zone features Victorian style dancers set to classical music all beneath a glowing chandelier. By the way, did I mention their decaying flesh? The ball has gone on for way too long and these dancers have started to fall apart and have taken to sewing it back into place.
Face Off: Into the FleshThe Face Off: Into the Flesh scare zone brings creature creations from the SyFy show to life. While there are random roving creatures in this scare zone lunging at you as you walk by, the real spectacle is the show creations found on their own stages.
