Avengers, assemble! Marvel Comics fans everywhere were spellbound by Joss Whedon’s Avengers film that grouped a select amount of superheroes teaming up to defeat a common foe to save the universe! It was instantly guaranteed there would be a sequel after the immense success, becoming the third highest grossing film of all time. When Joss Whedon was confirmed to direct and write the Avengers sequel entitled Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the speculation commenced almost immediately on who we could expect to make cameos in the next installment.
In the ending credits to Captain America: The Winter Soldier, we are offered a sneak peek of familiar characters, siblings Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. While little regarding their roles were disclosed, Entertainment Weekly can now confirm that the super powered siblings will serve as villains presenting quite a few obstacles for the Avengers.
They’re on Team Ultron, which makes things really hard for the Avengers because all of sudden they’re dealing with powers that they’re not used to, director Joss Whedon tells EW.
Quicksilver actor, Aaron Taylor Johnson offered his thoughts to EW about the sibling relationship, explaining
When you look in the comic books, you see a lot of the time that she’s always sort of mothering him, he’s like the father figure and she’s like the mother figure. Emotionally, she can stabilize him, and he protects her physically, visa versa. So they have this beautiful connection and it’s kind of them against the world.
Whether they end up as strictly villains, or make a transition into life as hero’s, comic book fans could care less since two fan favorite characters will be making an appearance in the Marvel films universe.
