After a season of twists and turns the Fox horror comedy series Scream Queens, created by Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan and Brad Falchuk, has been confirmed to receive a second season renewal within the last week. This is quite possibly the best news to hear from the network that notoriously axed quality series over the last decade, and there are plenty of others who would be quick to agree how deserving this renewal is. Scream Queens debuted to a solid rating, earning a consistent and dedicated fan base over the course of its 13 episode first season centered on a group of vicious sorority girls. Scream Queens went on to achieve a social media firestorm on a weekly basis as one of the most talked about series this year – and rightfully so, creating laughter, murder, mystery, and iconic pop culture tidbits sure to please everyone in some capacity.

The renewal was confirmed during the TCA winter press tour, as well as confirmation that Scream Queens ratings saw dramatic increases over various platforms such as On Demand, Live + 7, and Hulu streaming, which helped make the decision an easy on for Fox execs.  Season 2 of Scream Queens was in discussions to have the next installment depict a summer camp, but we now know that we should actually expect things to take a slight turn – to a hospital, “where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.” Much like Ryan Murphy’s previous sentiments, Fox Co-Chairman Dana Walden suggested we are likely to see characters return from the sorority plot – and based on social media responses, we can bet that the Chanel squad and Dean Munsch are contenders to make a Scream Queens comeback in the near future. No official casting details have been released as of yet, but we will surely be getting  news on cast additions and returns. With season 2 taking us to a hospital, is it possible that the Palmer Asylum seen in the finale is the location? Only time will tell, but for now let’s celebrate the spectacular announcement of more Scream Queens to come!
