San Diego Comi-Con (SDCC) is literally two days away, and I for one could not be more excited!
Seriously. Even the Purple Wedding pales in comparison to this excitement level – and we all know how exciting THAT was.
What's On My SDCC Docket?
This year's panel lineup is one for the history books. We've got voice actors from SpongeBob Squarepants, actors from The Magicians, Grimm, and Teen Wolf – and those are just a few things I will personally be covering.
One panel I am super excited about covering is Sailor Moon on Sunday. When the original series ended, I was content, if a little sad. The rebooted Sailor Moon Crystal just wrapped up its third season and the love triangle between Darien, Serena, and Haruka is going strong. This reboot follows the manga series closer than the original classic, similar to Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Fans have already met Phantom, Master Pharaoh 90, and Queen Beryl, among other iconic enemies of the Moon Kingdom.
Even though we have already covered a lot of news about it, American Gods is making an appearance on Friday. I'm interested to hear how the creators and actors answer on-the-spot fan questions and how they will handle certain changes. We all know the book is always better than the movie, but since this will be a television series, they will have more time to fill with important plot points.
It should be a fun ride.
What's In My Bag?
Every year the Comi-Con team hands out large swag bags complete with various fandom photos and daily schedule books. These bags are great for the first day, but can be a bit large for the convention floor.
Last year, I survived on a purse and a canvas bag. They did a good job, but left little room for much else.
This year I'm packing a full messenger bag. These bad boys have multiple pockets, allowing for easy access to the things you need and larger pockets for anything you happen to buy.
Things in my bag this year include:
2 extra battery packs & phone cables
If you've been to past Comi-Con events, you know hydration is a key factor. But constantly buying coffee (which just dehydrates you) and water bottles can run down your bank account just as quickly as buying merch. If you have a reusable water bottle, bring it with you.
That's all I've got for now! Stay tuned for more San Diego Comi-Con coverage!
