Sean Astin was recently asked about original Goonies director Richard Donner’s comments about wanting to get the whole cast back for a sequel, and by the sounds of it, he’s definitely on board!
“My first thought when Dick said he was doing that was like, ‘All right, maybe this time it’s true!’ I hope it’s true,”
“I certainly like the idea of doing it. I don’t know if I’d be in it or not. If they really wanted us to be in it, I’m sure there would be some way to work it out.”
There have been rumors that Donner just wants to get the original cast back for cameos, and have the focus of the sequel be on their children in the movie. Somewhat of a new generation.
When asked about co-star Corey Feldman, Astin said:
“We talk a lot,” he said. “Corey and I are buddies. Oh, he’s fired up. He’s ready to go.”
I do like the idea of it being on the kids of the original cast, but I don’t just want cameos. Donner HAS to involve the parents!! Can you imagine Chunk’s kids??? HILARIOUS!!
And hey, what about Sloth!?
