“When Stifler Met Chan” could very well be the tagline for the upcoming film Skiptrace in which Seann William Scott has just signed on to join international action star. Jackie Chan. The American Pie actor will reportedly portray a fast-talking gambler alongside Chan and Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing in the action-comedy set to begin filming January.
Variety reports that the story, based on an original idea developed by Chan, will depict a Hong Kong detective in hot pursuit of a crime boss. Bingbing will portray his niece who becomes entangled in trouble with the syndicate, and Scott will play an American who helps the detective. Paranorman and The Tale of Desperaux director Sam Fell, is set to head the production.
Although this may be the first foray into the action genre for Seann William Scott, the Minnesota native made a name for himself in teen comedies. The actor first found fame as Steve Stifler in the American Pie films. Known and loved by fans as the infamous character from the movie with a….shall we say….wonderfully raunchy sense of humor, Scott also showed his comedic skills in films such as Dude, Where’s My Car with Ashton Kutcher, Mr. Woodcock with Susan Sarandon, and stints hosting Saturday Night Live.
It may not be surprising to moviegoers if Seann William Scott fans find themselves introduced to a taste of Chinese cinema with the release of Skiptrace. After all, who knows what comedic mayhem could ensue when Stifler goes international?
