Earlier this year, The Second City Network was behind a hilarious video that featured women reading actual messages from gay networking apps Grindr, SCRUFF, and GROWLr titled Ladies Looking. That clip quickly went viral and its success prompted a sequel a few months later, Ladies Looking 2 Sloppy Seconds. Second City has now decided to use their unique brand of humor to tackle another LGBT subject matter, gay conversion therapy.
In Meet the McCardles, a news reporter takes us into the home of Hank and Louisa McCardle to see if reparative therapy has really worked for these ex-gays turned husband and wife. The resulting interview is comically awkward.
Nowadays, gay conversion therapy seems like a silly and outdated concept. It’s nice to see humor being used to magnify the ridiculousness of curing people who don’t need to be cured.
