Are you a fan of Serial or This American Life? Get ready, because a new podcast is headed our way! The new podcast S-Town is hosted by This American Life producer Brian Reed and produced by Julie Snyder, co-creator of Serial. Ira Glass, Sarah Koenig, Starlee Kine and Neil Drumming are the story advisors for the podcast.
“S-Town is about a man named John who hates his Alabama town and decides to do something about it. He asks Brian to investigate the son of a wealthy family who’s allegedly been bragging that he got away with murder. But then someone else ends up dead, and the story Brian thought he was reporting shifts underneath him. He discovers a nasty feud, a hunt for hidden treasure, and wades into the mysteries of John’s town and one man’s life.”
If you think that S-Town is just another true crime podcast like Serial, Undisclosed or My Favorite Murder, you’re mistaken. Snyder also described it as arty and novelistic.
Next @serial will be an “arty” “novelistic” 7-part spinoff in an Alabama town reported by @BriHReed says Julie Snyder at #ThirdCoast16

“S-Town is totally different from anything I’ve heard before,” Snyder told Entertainment Weekly. “Since we first announced the series, I’ve seen a lot of speculation that we’re doing a ‘true crime’ show, but I don’t think that does S-Town justice. It’s just a story that goes beyond any expectations.”
Koenig is confident that viewers will enjoy the uniqueness of S-Town. “Each episode takes a turn you don’t see coming,” Koenig said.
The non-fiction limited series, S-Town, premieres on March 28 and all 7 episodes will be released at once. You can subscribe with iTunes or with any other podcast app.
