House Of Cards: Season 3

Thanks to Netflix, I had very few hours of sleep at the end of February and beginning of March when Netflix unleashed the 3rd season of House of Cards

If you are as much of a fan of House of Cards as I am, for sure you had very few hours of sleep during the last weeks of February and the first week of March. As previously announced, Netflix delighted us again through season 3 -fully available online- by February 23rd this year. But, just in case: SPOILER ALERT!

As usual, Kevin Spacey along with Robin Wright (my personal two favorites in the series) enjoyably surprised us with awesome performances that allowed us to hate-love Frank and Claire Underwood as the story develops.

Unfortunately, my avidity to watch as much as I could about season 3 ended up with prematurely watching all of it and putting myself in the position of having to wait yet another year to see how Frank keeps bullying his way into power.

Of course, this gives the producers and Netflix the opportunity to further promote the series and all that surrounds it. Jeff Beal is currently in Krakow promoting his entire song cast of the series as part of the Krakow Music Festival presenting the complete House of Cards theme Symphony.

Given the weird fact that there is no way to spoil a season that is already fully (and legally) available online, I will take the liberty to assume you already know how season 3 ends. Claire leaves the President right in the middle of the most disadvantageous race that Frank has undergone so far. The only upside of the whole season finale is that Doug is finally ready for his comeback, however lousy the circumstances are.

These genius twists in the story give the screenplay writers plenty of material to develop the story for season 4.  Beau Willimon himself has agreed that there were a few other ways that the most powerful couple of TV could end the season: “A lot of the strength of the show is based on the strength of that marriage. But as soon as we began to explore that, we realized there was no turning back,” Willimon said. “We also realized we’d laid the groundwork in the previous two seasons for this conflict between Francis and Claire, and the more we began exploring it, the more inevitable it became. And the more exciting it was for us to travel that emotional terrain.” .

Let’s just hope season 4 is, at least, as good as what we’ve seen so far, and that we get enough sleep hours for the next few months before season 4 is finally released.  We’ve  got to endure our next House of Cards marathon!
