AMC and Sony Pictures Television have finally decided to develop Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s 1990s comic book series, Preacher. After a long period of negotiation, it has been revealed that the controversial comic book series will be made into a drama series. According to Deadline, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are set to write and direct the project, while Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) will take up the role of executive producer, along with Vivian Cannon and Neal Moritz. It should be noted that there are currently no plans for Rogen to feature in the show itself. The comic series that always caused controversy,  Preacher is the story of Texas preacher man Reverend Jesse Custer. Having lost his faith, Jesse "has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty". With him is his ex-girlfriend and a "friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint the pub to the blood of the innocent." However, forever on Jesse's "tail is an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse." ( Joel Stillerman, AMC’s EVP, said, “This is a great piece of material for AMC and we’re thrilled to begin working with the creative team behind it to make another iconic AMX series”. AMC hopes to make the series as successful as The Walking Dead, which is also based on a comic series. Upon hearing the good news, Rogen and Goldbery said, “We’ve tried for seven years to work on Preacher and we’re so psyched AMC is finally letting us”. They continued, “It’s our favourite comic of all time and we’re going to do everything we can to do it right”.
