Ah Gilmore Girls. For some, it is a GAPING hole in their pop culture lives. As in, they’ve never watched and therefore just have no idea that they’re missing out on 40 minutes of pure joy with each episode. The rest of us that are in the know realize that it is quite literally one of the best television shows to ever grace the small screen.
That’s why this week’s Thirsty Thursday is dedicated to the sexy men that supported the pivotal mother/daughter relationship that made the show so special.
***Warning, minor spoilers ahead.***
5. Scott Cohen/Max Medina
Oh Max. We all rooted for this brainy, sweet professor to be the one to win Lorelei’s heart. But alas, he was just a bit too vanilla for our cooky Gilmore. She tried so hard to love him, but just could not get herself there. They were adorable while it lasted, though; but I think we all knew from the start that they didn’t truly have a future together.
4. Jared Padalecki/Dean Forester
Many of you may be outraged by Dean’s low placing on the list. Well, to hell with ya, I stand by it! In fact, he almost lost his place entirely to Chad Michael Murray, but I honestly wasn’t in the mood to cause outrage today. Anyway, Dean was Rory’s first love and everyone loved him and yadda yadda. I always thought he was kind of self righteous and controlling, myself. I was glad to be done with him. However, he did turn into a bonafide hottie with his turn as Sam Winchester on CW’s brilliant series, Supernatural. Seriously, check him out now.
3. Matt Czechry/Logan Huntzberger
I loved Logan, I really did. Yeah he had some issues and was a recovering playboy/party animal but Rory really did turn him around into a productive member of society. He was romantic and worldly and cultured and basically just the complete opposite of the podunk Dean. And even though it was hard to see Logan and Rory part ways at the end of the series, I was so glad they stayed true to the tone of the show and had Rory choose career. After all, any new reporter that was lucky enough to follow an unknown senator named Barack Obama on his presidential campaign trail is clearly going places.
2. Milo Ventimiglia/Jess Mariano
I know there is a lot of controversy surrounding Jess. Yeah, I mean, when he and Rory dated, he was the worst. He had a chip on his shoulder the size of Manhattan. But he eventually got his life together and opened a small publishing house and wrote a book. I honestly think that, throughout the whole series, Jess was the only one that could have been Rory’s true match. I like to think that, once they both established themselves professionally, they found each other once again and had adorable, brainy babies.
This is no surprise, right? We spent years waiting for Luke and Lorelei to finally get together. Luke’s weird recluse lifestyle and Lorelei’s constant quest for love made it so the timing was always off. It wasn’t until Luke finally found the gumption to ask her to his sister’s wedding that us Luke/Lorelei shippers finally had our first glimmer of hope. In fact, I believe it was this moment exactly:
They had their (infuriating) ups and downs, but the series ended with them together and all was right in the world. Luke was strong, sexy and absolutely head-over-heels in love with Lorelei; and Rory, for that matter. He may have been a crotchety curmudgeon, but that was just armor hiding his heart of gold. They’re one of my favorite television couples to date.
There you have it, Gilmore Girls fans! Did I leave someone off the list that should have made it, or visa versa? Be sure to vote in the poll below and let me know!
