If you thought Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj’s feud on American Idol was the most intense rivalry on television…then you are wrong!
On what we all thought was Sharon Osbourne’s final year as a mentor for UK version of The X Factor, she developed a strong dislike for Dannii Minogue…who claimed in her upcoming memoir, Unbreakable, that the Australian-based judge had an affair with Simon Cowell.
“During filming it was obvious to me that there was some sort of relationship going on between them and the more it progressed, the worse it became between her and me.” Sharon wrote in her autobiography. “It was unbelievably bad.”
Huffington Post UK, Digital Spy and The Mirror have also revealed that the relationship made it more uncomfortable for Osbourne and BFF (and longtime X Factor mentor) Louis Walsh.
“The antics behind the screen had gone up a gear, with her sticking her tongue in Simon’s ear and giggling like a bloody teenager as Louis Walsh and me stood there like a couple of gooseberries.” Mrs. O wrote. “For me, it made her so unbearable to work with that I just couldn’t take it. It was horrible.”
It got so horrible for the Osbournes’ matriarch that she confronted Cowell and issued an ultimatum that fell on deaf ears.
“‘Sharon, I’m not doing it.’ His firm tone left me in no doubt this wasn’t a matter for debate,” she recalled. “‘I don’t want you to go and I don’t want her to go either. So think about it.”
While Mrs. O left for monetary reasons, she was not out a job for long as she joined then-judges Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff on the sophomore season of America’s Got Talent. She left the show back last summer after a public falling out with NBC.
This season, Sharon Osbourne returned for X Factor’s tenth season and joined Walsh, Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger on the panel. She is currently looking for three Over 25 singers to represent her in the Live Shows.
As for Minogue, she left the show in 2010 but returned to X Factor as a judge/mentor for the Australian version of the series. Ms. Minogue has not spoken out about Mrs. Osbourne’s comments.
