Sharon Osbourne is ready to leave show business and spend more time with her children and granddaughter.
According to Digital Spy, she wants to assist her son Jack and his wife Lisa, who are both trying to cope after a recent miscarriage, and Jack’s diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. Sharon would also like to be a hands on grandmother to 16 month old Pearl.
Sharon is currently a judge on The X Factor in the UK, after being away on a 5-year hiatus. She will leave the show permanently after the tenth season ends in December. She made her TV debut when The Osbournes aired on MTV in 2002, a reality TV show that followed the life of her family with Ozzy Osbourne, lead singer of English metal band Black Sabbath. The show ran for four seasons before ending in 2005. Since then, she’s been a judge on both The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, as well as one of five hosts on The Talk. Sharon’s decision to put her career aside includes her husband as well.
The Daily Mail reports that she hopes to ease the strain on her 31-year marriage caused by their hectic work schedules, especially since Ozzy recently had a relapse of his addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs. She discussed his relapse on The Talk in April, saying, “I never knew he was using prescription drugs. I knew he was drinking occasionally, but didn’t realize to the extent…It’s a disease that not only hurts the person who has disease, but it hurts the family. It hurts the people who love you.”
She and Ozzy will return to Los Angeles and buy a new home where they can settle down and focus on their family. He is currently on Black Sabbath’s final tour, which ends in December.
