Sherlock fans, the wait is over! Season Four is premiering on January 1, 2017. As if that weren’t exciting enough, Sherlock will air simultaneously in both the US and the UK for the first time. The US won’t have to impatiently wait weeks or even months to be reunited with Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman).
Watch the trailer for Season Four below.
The first episode is entitled “The Six Thatchers,” and we still have a few months to speculate about the significance of the broken violin string.

Cumberbatch recently hinted to GQ that Season Four could be “the end of an era.” But, don’t freak out (too much): Cumberbatch didn’t say Sherlock is ending.
“We never say never on the show. I’d love to revisit it, I’d love to keep revisiting it, I stand by that, but in the immediate future we all have things that we want to crack on with and we’ve made something very complete as it is, so I think we’ll just wait and see,” he said. “The idea of never playing him again is really galling.”
Considering that there was a three-year gap between Seasons Three and Four, I’m sure fans will wait for Season Five.
In the meantime, if you can’t wait until January to see Cumberbatch, make sure to check him out in Marvel’s Dr. Strange, set for release on November 4th. Is anyone planning on binging on Sherlock over the holidays to be ready for Season Four?
