Harry Treadaway, who was recently seen in The Lone Ranger, has been cast in Showtime’s upcoming horror drama Penny Dreadful. The British actor has been cast as the mad scientist Dr. Victor Frankenstein.
Treadaway isn’t the only new addition to the cast. Showtime also announced that Reeve Carney, Broadway’s own Spiderman, and Rory Kinnear from the latest Bond films have also signed on. Carney is set to play Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray, while Kinnear’s character is only described as a “mysterious character of haunting intensity.”Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton and Doctor Who’s Billie Piper will also star in the series.
The psychosexual horror series is brought to you by the Skyfall team of John Logan and Sam Mendes. The first season will include 8 episodes following the meeting of literature’s most iconic and terrifying characters in Victorian London. Juan Antonio Bayona is set to direct the first two episodes.
Penny Dreadful begins filming in October and is set for a premiere in spring of 2014.
