Simon Kinberg Reveals More About Upcoming X-Force Film | X-Force
Media Courtesy of Deadline

You may remember we’ve talked about Simon Kinberg in the past -- he’s basically become the go-to guy for all things X-Men at this point -- and now he’s dropping hints of what’s to come in the future X-Force movie ... and the future is looking pretty awesome!

On what’s coming up for FOX’s X-Men universe, Kinberg said that they “are working hard on New Mutants, Gambit with Channing Tatum, Deadpool 2 and the new X-Force movie where Deadpool is alongside Cable and other main characters.”

This is the first big news we’ve heard of the X-Force film, and we now know that it will be led by fan-favorite Deadpool as well as Cable and a new team that I’m sure fans are anxious to meet. It’s also a confirmation that the seemingly on again/off again Channing Tatum Gambit film is pretty firmly on right now.

But let’s jump back to X-Force. What can fans look forward to in this up and coming film? Kinberg continued to talk about the film and its characters, saying “X-Force is a combination of Deadpool and Cable -- they’re like the Black ops of the X-Men. They’re much darker and have an R-rated decibel. There are other X-Men characters coming into X-Force at different times in the comic, but it’s separate from X-Men.”

While it may seem like FOX’s mutant-filled universe is getting much more fleshed out and interconnected, it would be wise not to expect the same intricate planning that you’ve seen from other franchises like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While keeping everything on a timeline is important to FOX, they aren’t putting as much emphasis on the shared universe.

“[W]e go into making the best movie we can,” Kinberg says on the shared universe phenomenon, “It’s not just about a Colossus or Deadpool cameo. Connecting all of these movies will happen when it organically makes sense.”

Still, the promise of more Deadpool and a new team are sure to get X-Men fans pumped up for a new film! Are you excited?
