Slipknot's frontman Corey Taylor is "a massive Whovian" who is about to have every Whovian's dream come true - he will be featured in an upcoming episode of Doctor Who.

The episode, entitled "Under the Lake", is the third episode of the show's ninth series. The Doctor and Clara, in search of a good old fashioned adventure, find themselves up against the Fisher King, a giant creature "with horns protruding from his body". Physically, the Fisher King will be played by Neil Fingleton. His speaking voice will be that of Peter Serafinowicz, known for his role in Shaun of the Dead. The distinctive, terrifying scream of the creature will be Corey Taylor's.

Taylor got involved with the show when Slipknot was in Cardiff earlier this year. After hearing that Taylor was a huge fan, the producers invited him for a tour of the set. An insider reported that Taylor "agreed instantly" when asked if he wanted to record the minor role. His scream was recorded during that same visit.

Taylor had been required to keep his experience quiet until the new series aired, saying that it was "hard" to "keep this awesome secret".

"Under the Lake" airs Saturday October 3.
