South Parks Finally Tempts Fate Too Much: Black Out Causes Delay In New Episode

For the very first time in 13 years, South Park actually had to air a repeat instead of showing the new episode as planned. Normally, South Park manages to produce the new episodes six days before it’s intended to air. This method is their way of ensuring that the cartoon series is more than capable of staying up to date with current affairs.

It was this past Tuesday (Oct 15th) that South Park actually had a power loss that lasted for three hours, causing the series to miss its deadline for the very first time in 240 episodes. Comedy Central released a statement about the power outage: “From animation to rendering to editing and sound, all of their computers were down for hours and they were unable to finish episode 1704 ‘Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers’ in time for air tonight.”

Trey Park, one of the co-creators behind South Park, said “It sucks to miss an air date but after all these years of tempting fate by delivering the show last minute, I guess it was bound to happen.”

The episode that was missed was called “Goth Kids 3: Dawn Of The Posers.” It is now going to air next Wednesday October 23rd. A live-tweeted repeat of “Scott Tenorman Must Die” replaced it this week.

In other news, South Park did show fans a new 3D opening sequence for the series for its 17th season just last month. The once 2D characters have now been given a 3D background as the school bus they ride drives around town.

Check out the new opening sequence below.
