Johnny Depp has always been one to mix it up with everything that he does. And now it seems that he is going to surprise us all and head Into The Woods with none other than Meryl Streep! Variety has reported that Depp is attached to star in the film alongside Meryl Streep in Disney’s adaptation of the play, with Rob Marshall being set to direct.
Johnny has worked with Rob Marshall before on Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and was intending on being attached to the film The Thin Man, but the actor need a bit of a break, and he will be seen with Arnie Hammer in The Lone Ranger reboot, which is due out this July.
For her own part, it’s been noted that Meryl Streep as been attached to this project for some time now. It was back in October that Broadway World confirmed that Streep is set to play the witch in the film. Into The Woods debuted on Broadway back in 1987, with Bernadette Peters playing the witch. The play tells the story of a baker and his wife who go into the woods in search of a witch that has cast a spell on them. The couple’s journey has them running into the likes of Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.
