The amount we know about the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII is minimal, to say the least. However, whilst there is still no official news on casting, at least the shooting dates have finally been confirmed. That’s right Star Wars fans, Episode VII is really happening, and it’s happening soon.

According to HitFix, the newest chapter in the Star Wars story will be shot from Mid-May to September. The site also confirmed that the majority of the main roles have now been cast, though, whilst rumours are plentiful, we’re still in the dark about who will be involved.

The closest we’ve had to a casting announcement was Carrie Fisher’s interview with TV guide, where she suggested that, along with former co-stars Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford (pictured), she would be involved in the upcoming movie. Whilst this statement, coming from Fisher herself, seems legitimate, there has still been no official confirmation of the three original stars reprising their roles.

Outside of the original cast members, there have been many more casting rumours. The Huffington Post reports that Michael B. Jordan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Saoirse Ronan, Jesse Plemons, Adam Driver and Gary Oldman, amongst others, have been linked to J.J. Abram’s latest venture.

Shooting is to take place in London, at the Pinewood Studios. The studios are no stranger to science fiction and fantasy movies, with the Hobbit trilogy and final two Harry Potter movies being shot there.

The film has set a release date of December 18, 2015. It might seem like a life time away right now, but with J.J. Abrams at the helm, fans are set to be in for something epic.

What do you think? Who would you love to see in the latest Star Wars episode?
