Staff Writeralcohol menu to thousands of it’s stores in the coming years. Starbucks has been testing wine menus in select locations like Chicago, Atlanta, and Los Angeles the past few years and recently announced plans for vast expansion. This major announcement is part of the new Starbucks Evenings program, which starts after 4pm. According to a spokesperson who revealed the plan to Bloomberg Businessweek, the options will be bottled beer or wine, not cocktails, and the selection will vary to meet “local taste preferences.” Consumers should note that the menu’s addition will not interfere with the company’s family-friendly atmosphere and will only be sold at stores solely with staff 21 and up. Starbucks originally tested the idea at its Seattle flagship in 2010, and eventually expanded to other cosmopolitan cities throughout the country. Wine selections have run the gamut; from Prossecco, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc--even Syrah, Malbec, and various red blends. In addition to the wine menu, Starbucks also plans to unveil new food, tea, and juice selections. What do you think of Starbuck's new business plan?
