Just two years after producer Brad Wright announced that the continuation of the Stargate franchise had been cancelled, original creator Roland Emmerich has already confirmed that he is working on a movie reboot in the form of a trilogy.
“We went to MGM, who has the rights,” Emmerich told Digital Spy, “and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot… and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts. Pretty soon we’ll have to look for a writer and start.”
In the same interview, Emmerich added that there was no chance that the original stars, Kurt Russell and James Spader, would be returning for the reboot now that they have grown a lot older.
“The actors look totally different… it would not work,” he said.
So what do you think? Would you be excited to see the Stargate franchise revived or is it a bit too soon? Let us know!
