The “State Of Affairs” Pilot Has Katherine Heigl On Our Screens Once More

State of Affairs Pilot Recap

The new NBC series State of Affairs starring Katherine Heigl as Charleston “Charlie” Tucker, a CIA analyst, premiered on Nov. 17 10 PM. PopWrapped of course joins in on the fun and recaps the episodes every week. This week, I will mainly focus on the general explanation rather than on an in depth summary.

The Pilot, in general, is to introduce the characters a little bit, but there is already a lot of action and drama involved in the plot. The episode starts off with a flashback to three years ago in Kabul, Afghanistan, when Charlie’s fiancé, Aaron, gets killed by a terrorist. We later find out that Aaron is also the president’s son.

Charlie still suffers with her memories, since she saw how Aaron was killed, so she tries to stay focused on her work in the CIA and pretends to enjoy herself in bars and through one-night-stands in the evenings. Her job is to decide which security information is the most important and to brief President Constance Payton daily with a seven paged book; all of this happens under great security observation. This is what we will be looking at for the next few weeks, presumably some drama involved.

Though everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I, for myself, am quite impressed by the show. I have not had a show grab me by a simple episode for ages, but State of Affairs did its job. My nails are bitten off; my breath was held in numerous moments. I can only hope my excitement will be maintained on a similar level for the following episodes!

I hope to see the show for more than the planned six episodes, to be honest.

What do you think? Would you want to see further episodes? Tell us in the comments!

Don’t forget to check out State of Affairs on NBC Mondays at 10 PM!
