Steam OS Beta Available For Download

If you remember a few weeks ago, Valve Corporation announced that they will be releasing a console system (Steam Machine) some time in 2014. However while we are waiting for more news on that, the Steam operating system, which is in beta, is now available for download! As it is a beta version, the Steam OS is more catered to "intrepid Linux hackers,". Valve's Greg Coomer also says, "At this point the OS itself is not yet a finished product for a non-technical user," "SteamOS Beta is an early, first-look public release of our Linux-based operating system," Valve explained on the operating system's website. "The base system draws from Debian 7, code named Debian Wheezy. Our work builds on top of the solid Debian core and optimizes it for a living room experience. Most of all, it is an open Linux platform that leaves you in full control. You can take charge of your system and install new software or content as you want." Before you jump right in to download and install, I suggest reading through others' comments first. Some say that the Steam OS installation will require you to wipe out all your data, so it may be wise for you to save all your work or look into other alternatives prior to installing. For full details about the Steam OS, visit the Steam website here. If you've downloaded the Steam OS already, please let me know how it is. And if you haven't, share with me your thoughts on it. I'd totally appreciate your opinions and reviews!
