Steve Viksten, who voiced Oskar Kokoshka in Nickelodeon's Hey Arnold!
cartoon series and also wrote for the show, died on Monday
(June 23) at just 54 years old. The cause of death has not been released.
Viksten was the writer behind a few Hey Arnold!
episodes, like "Arnold's Hat" and "Stoop Kid" (one of my personal favorites). He also wrote the Hey Arnold!
movie, and penned episodes for other TV shows, including The Simpsons
Nickelodeon confirmed the sad news and released a statement expressing their condolences:
"We are deeply saddened to learn that Steve Viksten has passed away. Steve was a gifted artist and we were honored to have the opportunity to work with him on our beloved shows 'Hey Arnold!' and 'Rugrats.' Our heartfelt condolences go out to his loved ones."
Hey Arnold! creator Craig Bartlett also expressed sadness at Viksten's passing with a Facebook post:
Keep Up With PopWrapped On The Web!
As someone who is still a huge fan of both Hey Arnold! and Rugrats, I have infinite respect for his creative genius and his work.
Thank you, Mr. Viksten, and may you rest in peace.
