The movie reboot of the iconic and highly popular 90's television series Baywatch has its female lead, and she is a goddess, no less.
Alexandra Daddario, who many would know for her role as the Demigoddess Annabeth Chase, the daughter of Athena in the Percy Jackson film franchise, had just been cast as the female lead in the upcoming film.
She will be joined by Zac Efron and Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who made the announcement on his Instagram account:https://instagram.com/p/-O5YV-Ih3H/
Daddario previously starred with Johnson in this year's San Andreas, in which she played his daughter.
In Baywatch she is set to take on the role of Summer, who will be paired up with Zac Efron's character. In the original television series, Summer Quinn was a star athlete who moved to California with her mother to escape an abusive boyfriend. It is not yet clear whether the film reboot will faithfully follow the original's story line, but Johnson did tease that the iconic character of C.J., made famous by Pamela Anderson, is set to be announced soon.
Daddario was able to beat several young famous actresses to land the role, a shortlist that included Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev and Shelley Hennig of Teen Wolf.
