As we approach next week’s season finale, things start falling apart and falling together on Supergirl.

As we approach next week’s season finale, things start falling apart and falling together on Supergirl. The final stages of Lex and Leviathan’s plans are almost ready, characters reveal their true colours, and our heroes are preparing for battle.

The Search for Leviathan

Now that Kara and Alex know that Leviathan is involved, they just have to find them. They get help from Kelly’s military friend Pete, the one Malefic impersonated, who is an archivist at a U.S. Congressional Library. Together, the three of them dig through the records and trace Leviathan’s symbol back to Macedonia and Bavaria. Pete tells the Danvers sisters that wherever this symbol appears, catastrophe follows. Pete tries to get access to the special collections room but his colleagues tell him no. Alex says this generally means they’re on the right path. And someone is watching from behind a bookshelf. Pete and his family end up under surveillance and are attacked, prompting him to go off the grid. Pete tells Alex she should do the same and reminds her she’s not part of the military anymore. Later, Kelly tells Alex that if she wants to go full vigilante, she should really wear a mask.

The Supers vs Rama Khan

Back at the DEO, Brainy connects the dots and accuses Lex of being the Sun Eater. Lex doesn’t deny it and tells Brainy to “trust the process.” The next step in the process is giving Gemma the weapon he stole from the Fortress. Gemma is pleased and takes the weapon to Rama Khan and Rama Khan heads out to gather the rest of his materials to destroy the Supers.

Meanwhile, Dreamer is dreaming and in her dreams, she discovers a logo that leads them to the Oregon Geological Monitoring System. Dreamer, Supergirl, J’onn, and M’Gann head to Portland to stop Rama Khan from starting a giant earthquake. Surprisingly, Brainy and the DEO also head out to Portland to help but they arrive just as the supers defeat him. They didn’t really do anything but Brainy insists the DEO gets custody of Rama Khan for questioning.

Brainy tells Nia and Kara that they cannot be involved in the questioning, that they can watch from the observation deck. From the observation deck, Kara and Nia hear Brainy talking to Rama Khan in an unfamiliar language that neither of them understands. However, they do understand the words “Lex Luthor”. Brainy tells Rama Khan that he is working with Lex so why don’t they work together now. Rama Khan easily breaks free of his restraints just as Brainy realizes it was a trap. Rama Khan always intended to be captured and brought to the DEO. But what for? Kryptonite. Rama Khan gets his hands on the kryptonite that is kept in the DEO and despite a valiant effort from the supers, Rama Khan escapes with the kryptonite leaving the DEO in shambles. Nia can’t deal with Brainy anymore. She tells him that she doesn’t like the new Brainy and certainly can’t trust him.

Lex, Lena, and the Prisoners

Meanwhile, Lex and Lena are back at Stryker’s Island Penitentiary where the Non Nocere programming has glitched and turned the prisoners violent again. Lena tries to fix this by resynchronizing the inmate’s Q-waves. Lex and Lena realize that the prisoner’s bodies are adapting to the programming but their natural, violent fight or flight biology is trying to fight it off like the flu. Lena does a full Q-wave reset but it’s not enough. It doesn’t work and everyone seems back to normal. Upset, Lena calls her project a failure and destroys her equipment.

Lex has been waiting for this failure for a long time, he just needed Lena to see it for herself. He unleashes his true colours and starts yelling about how humanity needs a firm hand to guide them. Humanity needs him to guide them. Lena realizes Lex played her this whole time and calls him a monster. But Lex doesn’t care. Gemma finally invites him to Leviathan’s ship and Lex orders a guard to blow up the prison.

But the one good thing about this is that Lena finally realized that Lex is a villain. She goes to Kara’s apartment with an excellent, tearful apology. She admits she went down a dark path and says, “You were right. This whole time, I became a villain” and begs Kara to let her help take down Lex and Leviathan. Kara may or may not be ready to forgive Lena but she invites Lena to sit down, which is a step in the right direction. Please let these two hug and make up!

William and Kelly’s Search for Answers

While all of this is going on, William and Kelly are on a mission of their own. The two of them work together to find out Margot’s connection to Obsidian North. They find out the connection is Eve Tessmacher. Kelly tells Andrea her concerns about Eve but on paper, Eve looks pretty perfect. Andrea tells them to drop it and threatens to fire Kelly if she doesn’t get on board with the upcoming Obsidian Worldwide Unity Festival. However, William can’t let it go (of course) and follows Eve down a sketchy back alley, where he is quickly captured.
