Move Over Superman: Supergirl TV Series In Development | supergirl

It's about time Supergirl gets her own time in the spotlight! New reports are surfacing that a concept for a Supergirl TV series is currently being pitched based on the cousin of the legendary DC comics character. Michael Green who also produced series such has Heroes, The River, and Smallville, is currently attached to the television adaptation. Green has some history with the character, co-writing the New 52 launch of the Supergirl comic along with Mike Johnson. The first word of the potential series came from Bleeding Cool who says a “reliably informed by a comics/Hollywood contact” tipped them off. E! later confirmed to have heard the same news, however added that if Supergirl were to come to our television screens it would NOT be on the CW network like other DC adaptations (Arrow, The Flash, Smallville.) If that is the case, seeing how Gotham plays out on Fox could impact the possibility of branching out. I think that a Supergirl series is most definitely needed, as female superheroes are commonly under-represented as leads in television, and the ratio of female superheroes in film (other than Marvel's X-men films) seems to be tipped towards men. Would you watch a Supergirl series? Let me know what you think in the comments below!
